Nuthatch - Sitta europaea
The agile nuthatch is an entertaining visitor being particularly at home when upside down. It is frequently seen coming head first down a tree or feeder. It usually produces one brood of between six and eleven eggs, spotted red-brown, which are laid April and May.
Only the female is involved in the incubation process which takes fourteen days. The young are fledging after a further twenty-four days. As their name implies, Nuthatches love nuts and FieldFayre Prime Peanuts are ideal.
