Song Thrush - Turdus philomelos
Autumn days would not be quite the same without the aftermath song of this familiar bird. Although it feeds mainly on the ground, running for a while, then stopping quickly, cocking its head to one side to listen for a worm, which is deftly extracted with a single stab, the Son Thrush is a hesitant visitor , felling more comfortable at ground feeding stations.
Lays March to July, two or even three broods. Incubation takes about fourteen days and is followed by fledging in a further two weeks.
